How do I know if my home needs rewiring?+
Age or one symptom does not decide the answer. Repeated faults, heat damage, older cable types, limited circuits, piecemeal alterations or missing records are reasons to arrange an assessment. The recommendation should follow inspection, test results, access and how the home will be used.
Could the work be a partial rewire?+
Sometimes. The condition and test results, layout, circuits that would remain and wider renovation plans determine whether a partial scope can integrate appropriately. A staged or partial approach is not suitable for every property.
Can the home remain occupied, and who handles lifting or making good?+
That depends on cable routes, isolation needs, room access, belongings and project stages. The survey and written scope should set out the expected disruption, any occupied-area constraints and who is responsible for lifting, access, protection and making good. Occupation throughout is not guaranteed.
Can you coordinate with my builder or other trades?+
Yes. Share the wider programme and responsibility split so cable routes, first fix, plastering or joinery, second fix, final equipment and testing can be sequenced around the agreed electrical scope.
How much will a rewire cost, and how long will it take?+
Property size alone is not enough to answer. Circuit requirements, existing condition, access, finishes, occupation, project stages and responsibility boundaries all affect the scope and programme. Imrie Electricals does not publish a universal price or duration; a surveyed written scope is the useful basis.
What records will I receive?+
The completed electrical scope is tested and the appropriate certification, circuit information and labels are provided for that work. The exact handover items should be stated in the written scope.
